Level Up Lab | Facebook Business-Facebook Marketing Strategies for Cosmetologists.

Welcome back! In the last 2 classes, we talked all about Instagram. If you missed those, be sure to head back and catch what you missed. If you want to learn more about your Instagram Profile or your Instagram Captions, I've got you covered!

Today we are diving into the world of Facebook, specifically, Facebook for Business. We are going to discuss why you should have a Facebook Business page and how to use it correctly.

First, let's talk about why you should have a Facebook Business page and how to set it up properly. To set up your page, you start by logging into your personal Facebook profile and tapping your profile picture to bring you to the Menu screen. Click "Pages" then click "Create".

You want to get two features of a Facebook Business page right: 1). Having a great profile picture of yourself and 2). A cover photo with your logo and possibly a picture of your choice can be created on Canva. This can be a picture of your client, a picture of your target market, or even a picture that triggers an emotion, which simply means the picture says something that speaks to a person. The photo could evoke a feeling of peace, laughter, happiness, or beauty. Your target market should identify with this feeling and be drawn to your photos, causing them to learn more about you and what you offer. If these photos turn off the potential client, then your brand did its job to attract the right clients and repel the wrong ones. We will discuss the importance of a brand in a later post.

You must fill in all the business information such as:

  • the name of your business

  • phone number

  • address

  • email

  • website

  • social links

  • services

  • business hours

You can even add a bio listing your specialties, such as bridal styling or extensions. Once you have that complete, you can start posting!

Another great feature of Facebook for Business is the ability to schedule your posts inside the Meta Business Suite. To locate Meta Business Suite, log in to the desktop version of your Facebook business page and tap "Meta Business Suite" in the left margin. Here you can create a post and schedule it as well. You can download the Meta Business Suite app, but some reviews are not great. Just FYI! You can also run ad campaigns or boost posts that have already performed well. You can set specific demographics to get your ad in front of the right people. You can learn more about Facebook ads in their Ads Manager section in the Business Suite.

Facebook allows your business page to operate smoothly with automated responses inside the messenger feature. Your client will see several responses when they message you, or you can create your own response.

Facebook has a wide variety of age ranges, with the age range of 25-35 being the largest. According to Statista.com the 3 largest age groups of Facebook users are 18-24, 25-34, and 35-44.

Why is this important?

If your target market fits into one of those age groups, then Facebook is where you need to be. You need to be where your potential new clients are so they can be aware of you and your business. Facebook ads will ask you what age range of users you want the ad to be shown to, so knowing your target market's age is very important.

Facebook also has this fantastic way to connect with members of your local area to increase your awareness. Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok do not have this feature and in my opinion, are missing the mark in supporting small businesses. So what is this holy grail of features?

It is Facebook Groups.

Facebook Groups are a spectacular way to connect with all kinds of people with a common interest. Facebook groups are one of the most underutilized tools for hairstylists. You can connect with local Mom groups, neighbors, church groups, organized sports, or health centers. There's a group for everyone!

My favorite way to market myself in a Facebook group is to post about my business on the day that is allowed within the group. I describe myself, give some brief information about my business, and discuss my specialty. I let the ladies know that I offer a free gift to new clients via my website or you can post the free gift there in the group. When I am not posting about myself, I wait until a group member asks for a stylist referral and then I post about myself in the comments. Not only is the post's author seeing my comment but others see it too. I have gotten plenty of clients from this strategy. If you offer something special that no one else is offering, you will stand out. If you have a unique talent, this is your time to shine! When I talk about a free gift, what I'm referring to is a huge incentive for first-time clients. When I post this offer in my groups, I almost always get new business. Who doesn't like a free gift?!

I talk more about this in my FREE "5 Unique Ways to Get New Clients" ebook.

That is it for this lab class. I hope you found it useful and please, share this with any of your baby hairstylist friends. Reach out to me and let me know your thoughts!
